Genuine Chinese wooden figure depicting one of 3 deities - the God of Wealth, also called Fu 福.
He was one of he Three Stars (sanxing 三星) of Wealth, Status and Longevity - Fu, Lu, Shou.
Depicted as a man with long beard wearing robes of a Mandarin and holding a ruyi scepter.
Accordingly to a legend, his name was Yang Cheng (楊成) and he was official in Daozhou prefecture who stopped locals being taken to court as tribute to emperor.
As a deity he became associated with good fortune.
This wooden figure was made of an old piece of beach log and carved most likely in late 19th to early 20th C.
