High-quality Japanese vase dating from the late 19th C Meiji period.
Blue and white decorations known as sometsuke depicting beautiful and very subtle scenes with pair of quails, swallow and magpie among gove with peach trees, wild grass, blooming orchids and meadow flowers.
Gentle strokes of cobalt blue (gosu) wereapplied with care and precision resulting in a distinctive indigo dye effect.
Stunning decorations make this piece very special and unique.
French ormolu was also made in the 19th C.

Condition: very good, it has a firing defect of multiple unglazed dots, a few very small and minor scratches that are not really vissible.
