Late 18th to early 19th Century French goauche showing a young gentleman playing a lute.

Painting is depicting a scene from late 18th Century - armchair, music stand, instrument all clothing with hat laying on the floor, the candlestick and glass decanter in the background - all of that clearly comes from mid 18th Century.

Not signed. There is a framing hop sticker on the back with the name of the street: Rue Neuve Saint-Eustache which was located in Montmartre up until early 19th C. Last known records for this street are circa 1837, after that it was most likely renamed to Rue d'Aboukir.

It is safe to date this painting to 1790-1830, most likely - Napoleonic period.

Framed and glazed.

Sizes of the frame: 60x53xm
Sizes of painting: 26x21cm

Condition: very good, painting itself is in perfect condition, frame has some spots with visible wear of paint, paper mount has some minor brown spots.

It is a very well painted goauche by unknown but talented artist.
